FINDING OF A ZONAL SPECIES – PARKINSONIA PARKINSONI SOWERBY IN THE JURYIC DEPOSITS OF THE PIENNINE ZONE OF THE UKRAINIAN CARPATHIANS

In the Piennine zone of the Ukrainian Carpathians, Jurassic deposits are in the form of olistolites - blocks of various sizes - located in Upper Cretaceous formations. Olistolites do not form a single continuous sequence. Therefore, a detailed paleontological study and dating of these deposits is of practical importance and allows us to reproduce the history of geological development of this structural-facial unit. The study of the most important for stratification and correlation of the group of paleoorganisms - ammonites, allowed to paleontologically substantiate the age of the olistolites of the Penin zone. In the process of field research in the existing quarry on the outskirts of the village Pry-borzhavske (Transcarpathia) the ammonite Parkinsonia parkinsoni Sowerby was found. It is a key species - index of the eponymous upper zone of the Вajocian of the biozonal standard of the International Stratigraphic Scale and is important for the dating of Middle Jurassic sediments. A monographic description and image of the of Вajocian spеcies Parkinsonia parkinsoni Sowerby from Piennine Zone deposits of Ukrainian Carpathian is given.
